Dr Sahar Behnam

Dr. Sahar Behnam joined the team at Warner Family Medical Practice in October 2017 after moving from Sydney. Sahar finished her Doctor of Medicine in the year 2008. She is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Working in rural areas of Australia and covering various hospital shifts, Sahar has experience in different aspects of GP practice including women’s health, antenatal and postnatal health, mental health, children’s health, sexual health, contraceptive health and chronic disease management (asthma, COPD, diabetes, hypertension).

Sahar has special interest in Women’s Health and is fully trained to perform procedures including Implanon, Mirena/IUD insertion and removal and Pap smears.

Dr Behnam is also experienced in skin cancer care and performs skin lesion check-ups and all types of biopsies and skin lesion excisions. Procedures, minor ops, wedge resection and wound management round out her skills set.

Sahar also has a special interest in mental health consultations. She has been doing post graduate educational training in mental health and has been awarded the certificate of Focused Psychological Skills by The RACGP.

Sahar is very welcoming and friendly GP and always has a smile on her face. She is available for appointments on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Besides being fluent in English, Sahar also speaks Persian and German.
